A drain cable clears a blockage by boring a hole through it — effective for a one-time clog, but it leaves the grease, scale, and root fragments coating the pipe walls, which is why some drains clog again within months. Hydro jetting works differently: a high-pressure water jet (3,000-4,000 PSI) scours the full diameter of the pipe, cutting out grease, flushing sediment, and slicing through root intrusion, then washes the debris downstream and out of the line.
We take a camera-first approach. Before recommending jetting, we run a sewer camera to confirm what's actually in the line and that the pipe can take the pressure — jetting is safe for sound PVC, cast iron, and clay, but a badly deteriorated or collapsed pipe needs repair, not more pressure, and we'll tell you that plainly rather than sell you a jetting job that can't hold. You see the footage yourself before approving anything.
Jetting earns its keep in three situations we see constantly in DFW: kitchen and restaurant grease lines, where cabling only pokes through the buildup; tree root intrusion in older clay and cast iron sewers, where the jetter's root-cutting nozzle clears the line more completely than a blade; and recurring clogs, where the same drain backs up every few months because the pipe walls have never actually been cleaned. If a standard cable will genuinely solve your problem, that's what we'll quote — jetting is the escalation, not the default.
